I used to always dream of the days being a business women. Dressing up. Looking professional. Being all put together. And now that I am older... I dream of the days that I can just dress down and relax. On my days off I still like to look presentable so I can go out and run errands, see friends, and (this one might sound silly but...) look good for my husband - he deserves a woman who takes care of herself. I figure the best way to do that while not killing myself by putting on makeup another day is to find a makeup that is light with the benefits. That is why I decided to put together my day off look with
Neutrogena and their new line. Plus they are the perfect product for a look that will last all day.
Before the makeup, I want to talk hair really quick! My best tip for the night before your day off is take a shower, use a great repairing shampoo and conditioner like Neutrogena's Shampoo and Conditioner. Once you are out put in their Triple Repair Fortifying Leave-In Treatment and let your hair air dry. The next morning put in one more go of the leave in treatment throughout the ends and throw your hair up for the day. Let it have a break from heat and styling but just rolling with a messy bun. That plus my quick step by step routine for a quick and easy day off face will translates easily to an all day look with little to no effort.
Step One: Wash face and moisturize. This one is important for me living in Arizona. With the heat and with the dry environment starting with a moisturizer is the only way to keep a fresh face all day. I especially love the Oil-Free Moisture with sunscreen SPF 15 by Neutrogena.
Step Two: Apply foundation and color. You can do this with fingertips or a brush. I use about one drop of Nourishing Long Wear Liquid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 20 on my brush and leave a light layer all over my face. Then I use one more drop to touch up any areas that need a little extra loving. I love their foundation because it evens our my skin tone and covers any acne without needing addition concealer. See if you catch the acne scaring that goes away below. Then move the the cheeks with a little blush. This helps your face have a little dimension and color.
Step Three: Top of the look with a little Shine Control Powder to help it set all day. This will keep you looking flawless and freshly powdered for your time out and about. This step isn't necessary, but it is something I love.
Step Four: Add some depth to your eyelashes with Healthy Volume® Mascara Regular. Start at the base of your lashes and make a little zig-zag pattern going out. This helps add a thick coat near your eyelid to give an eyeliner look without actually applying eyeliner. I always apply two coats on top and one on bottom. Generally for a day of work I go with waterproof so I don't have to worry about it smuging while I am out.
Step Five: Finish it all off with a little lip color. MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Peach is light enough that it looks natural and it lasts all day!
And there you have it! A look as simple as five steps that will take you from just a day in to whatever you have to get taken care of. With no concerns about who you will bump into on your errands. An all day look that you won't have to worry about once you leave your bathroom.
I picked up all my product at my local Target. The makeup is sorted alphabetically so the Neutrogena was right next to the NYX products. Since it is a newer line a few things weren't in stock yet, but I can promise you I will be frequenting that aisle. As for the hair product? It took a little longer to find. It was an aisle over from the mass hair styling section, tucked on a lower shelf by two other Neutrogena products. But trust me. All the goodness is there. Make sure you don't just cruise by it. And did you know that Target will be hosting a Beauty Concierge event? Event begins August 24th, Limited quantities available. Check with your local Target store for Beauty Concierge day and times.
